A daily updated blog typed by someone with painty hands, oil under his fingernails and the smell of solder in his nostrils who likes making all sort of models and miniatures. And fixing things.

Not so local bus
Where is this photo taken?
The Lake District?
No. It's on the road to Leamington Spa station. 190 miles from the lakes.
This bus has been running around with its destination board shouting "Windermere" for at least 6 months. I'm pretty certainly a daily service between the two towns hasn't been introduced so I can only assume it arrived from the north and hasn't been re-programmed.
All this is a lovely "prototype for anything" for railway modellers. No more worrying about the correct destination blinds on your miniature PSV's, just tell sharp eyed bus-blind observers that the vehicle concerned has been transferred from another area. That and go away and bother someone else.
Perhaps it is the Lakes Tourist board trying to get extra visitors?
ReplyDeleteMind you, that's what I call budget travel. "Next toilet stop, Kendal"
Regarding people complaining, I knew someone who would deliberately put something like that on a layout so the complainers would see that and miss the lack of rivets elsewhere.
Well, they do say there's a prototype for everything.....
ReplyDeleteCurrently one of the buses in use in Redditch is in Wessex livery instead of the normal Diamond one. Probably borrowed or has been transfered as both companies are part of Rotalia.

Buses with improbable destinations would help explain why they have no passengers.
ReplyDeleteIt could be worse.
ReplyDeleteA number of years back, a number of buses could be found with the destination "Service".
I'm not sure it would go down too well these days - but it wasn't unknown in the days when pretty much all service buses featured roller destination blinds.
Our buses here show a coffee cup when the driver is on a break. The cup has steam coming out of it.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really cool Andy, we don't have anything that good over here in the UK
ReplyDeleteI'd imagine that some passengers might also have steam coming out of them if the driver keeps them waiting too long.
