This is unexpectedly fascinating - the history of the Jerry Can. Such a common object, but with a fascinating back-story.
Somewhere in my father's photos are pictures of buildings made out of stacked fuel cans. I suspect these were the older design that leaked and didn't have to be sent back. he was stationed at an airfield on Masira Island.
