Three days spent at the Festival of British Railway Modelling last weekend, and I didn't manage to bag much in the way of photos for this blog. Worse, my video camera stayed in its bag the whole time.
In my defense, I did manage six layout shoots and an awful lot of chatting.
Anyway, don't worry. Laurie has provided an hour of quality footage so you can enjoy the show without the crowds (it was very crowded on Saturday morning) or having to listen to me waffling on about things.
If this isn't enough for you, one of my jobs was to take the Yorkshire Post photographer around. You can see the excellent results here.
The Yorkshire Post had some interesting shots but needed work on captions. I wasn't aware the LMS had a Carnation Scot 😃
ReplyDeleteIt's shorter than most trains, because it's condensed! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat coverage from the Yorkshire Post
ReplyDeleteWas there nothing at the show except big mainline roundy roundies? If I had gone, I would have been very disappointed. Alternatively this is a very personal view of the show and quite unbalanced if it is intending to give a comprehensive idea of what there was to be seen at Doncaster.
ReplyDeleteNo, there were several smaller layout under 8 feet long, 5 of those I photographed were in this category.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the video offends you.
I think I spotted Phil on page three of the Yorkshire Post photos, on the right behind the “Overlord” layout taking shots with a mobile phone?…
ReplyDeleteThe video shows a number of smaller layouts, I'd say the show was a great mix of both scale and size of layouts. I have the feeling that anonymous didn't watch the video in full or dare I say it, the modellers themselves managed to convey a sense of space that was more than their diminutive footprint.
ReplyDeleteWell-spotted Christopher. I thought I'd stayed out of shot, but obviously not!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a great show! I watched Lawrie's video last week and enjoyed reliving my visit. I mean, I was already going to enjoy Doncaster (for obvious reasons) but not having been to this show before, I didn't realise it was such a key event in the calendar. I don't think there's any way I can swing Ally Pally so I'm glad I got my fill of inspiration at Doncaster - should keep me going for a bit. Congrats to you and the WOR team on a successful and enjoyable event.
