How was an illustrated book put together in the days before Desk Top Publishing? Shoo Raynor takes us back to those pre-computer days and shows how a paste-up works. From a work point of view, it's very interesting, and makes me glad I don't have to produce magazines the hard way now!
A daily updated blog typed by someone with painty hands, oil under his fingernails and the smell of solder in his nostrils who likes making all sort of models and miniatures. And fixing things.

Very interesting. I spent my career as a cartographer. When I joined in 1978, all the maps were hand drawn or scribed onto plastic. We set them out using highly accurate mechanical plotters, one was called the coordinatograph. Text was produced photographically and stuck to the plastic map using hot wax.... Those were the days.
Isn't the MRJ still done this way?
