It's alive!

Of course, with the car wired up, I'm, going to give it a bit of a test. Even sitting on a box, it's a bit exciting, and of course, useful, to check things are working.

This might also offer a chance to set up / calibrate the steering, speed control etc..

I remember having to do this with "1:10 scale" cars using 27 MHz.

Steering needed to be centered - the zero crossover point on speed controls needed to be set up - stuff like that - trimming controls were often provided on controller boxes to allow for this boring but essential stuff.

Paired crystals were also used to match the frequencies of transmitters and receivers - with a small range of spot frequencies, often identified using colour coded ribbon flags clipped to antennas.

OK - this was a number of years back - but I'd be surprised if you don't still have to do quite a bit of this setup stuff ... .

With everything working, I'm expecting to have to work on the tracking - get those wheels both pointing in the same direction when the stick is in neutral.

No need to mess with crystals in the days 2.4mHz control, though, thank goodness!
