Saturday Film Club: Class 58 - A Career Cut Short
I've always had a soft spot for the Class 58 diesel. They looked, to my eyes, very attractive. Sadly, I remember them arriving, and fading away...
In the story of British traction they probably have a key role in overturning some conventional thinking. Their weakness was wheelslip at a time when it was being realised that technology could solve that issue.Had they stayed in service a little longer I suspect they could have been re-engineered and had much longer lives
