The chimney is supplied with two tops - a cast whitemetal one and a kit of bits to make the same thing in brass.
If I were building a weathered loco, the former would be OK. Paint it black, dry brush with tank grey and the result will be pretty good.
This locomotive is to be clean and so the etched version will be nicer as it should have a see-through quality. It's a fiddly build though. The mesh comes as a sheet not long enough to go all the way around the parameter of the ring in one go. Fortunately it solders well and needed minimal cleaning up. As long as I'm careful with the paint it should look OK.
