Random photos from Crewe
I enjoyed a day out with a West Midlands Dayranger ticket on Monday. First proper stop (Change at Birmingham doesn't count) was Crewe. Here are a few random shots.
There's a real buzz about Crewe, such a wide variety of things to see and places to go. I stayed there for a week in 2022, which I spent both gricing locally and travelling around. A chance visit to the WHSmith in the station found me buying the Platform 5 Combined Volume; while I'm not a very industrious train spotter, it can be great fun and of course the book has a lot of details about those obscure things you often see parked up in sidings or wherever. I hadn't thought about the Day Ranger, just checked up on the system and it seems amazing value for money. Something to consider once we've moved, as it's available from both Ledbury and Hereford. All the best, Simon.
I've always liked sitting on active railway stations and just watching the comings and goings. I can hardly tell one Unit from another, but there is something about the atmosphere that I enjoy. However, Crewe is much nicer in this regard and Birmingham New Street!
