With bost sides of the gearbox bolted together, I get to attached the chunky universal joints that will drive those rear wheels.
Being rear wheel drive, is of course, prototypical, as that's where the impetus come from in a real Beetle. It's why they are so good in the snow, that, and the weight being over the drive wheels.
Another prototypical feature is the torsion bar suspension, which you can see fitted to the front of the gearbox. OK, it's not the same as the real car, but the concept is the same.
Assembly is a bit of a three-handed job, and it's important to pay attention to ensure you use the correct wire, as they are handed. If not, well, taking the wire out again isn't too tricky...
It all works though, the rear arms move up and down, given bounce by the suspension.
