Signwriting course

Spotted at Carfest, a course I would really like to go on, but probably can't because of all the other things I have to do at that time of year -Signwriting

On offer, by signwriter Joby Carter, is a 5 day course which covers all the basics from layout and design to shading, lining and brushwork.

Yes, it's 500 quid and you still need to find somewhere to stay, but what a great holiday. Fascinating and you come out of it with the beginnings of a useful skill.

More details on the Joby Carter website.

5 days for £500 is a total bargain and getting an opportunity to quiz and expert is great.

When I was a nipper I once saw someone signwrite and pinstripe a Volvo F88. (My dad was a lorry driver and I used to go to work with him on occasions). I remember the hand rest thing with the rounded end (cloth?) and the skill and patience of the signwriter. I didn't realise it at the time but I was witnessing a dying art, at least for commercial vehicles.
Although I can see the skill in applying a vinyl wrap I still like to see a properly lined lorry.
