Saturday Film Club: Tiny Wimborne

I'm not sure what I like most about this weeks film. Is it the wonderful commentary?

The archive (now, not then) shots of the full-size Wimborne?

That more than 350 photographs taken to ensure complete accuracy (this was the days of film remember, we do that in a weekend now)

or that after a quick bit of web searching, it turns out that Wimborne Model Town still exists.

This place looks amazing, a very long drive from here, but it's on my bucket list of places to visit. These are the gems that make me not want to travel abroad, when we have so much to see here.

The complete lack of barriers between the visitors and the model is what impresses me most - shows an impressive level of trust in the public. I wonder if it's still like that today?

It's just up the road from me. I remember my parents taking me and my sister there many years ago when we were kids. Bearing in mind how long ago it was built it is impressive.
A few years ago it was painstakingly moved to a new site, less than a 5 minute walk from its original site.
I seem to remember an 0 gauge Deltic that they had running around the model. At the original site there was also 00 gauge layout and Yes Phil the model town is still there
