The Barclay locomotive springs are mounted above the footplate and as such make a big contribution to the "look" of the model. As supplied the rather nice lost wax casting are a bit chunky (the 14" loco obviously weighs more than the 12" so it has bigger springs) but I don't have time to find replacements or make a master and cast some resin ones. Some judicious filing helps quite a bit however so I think I'll get away with them.
