Off to the first garden rail show of the season this weekend

It's time to don the Garden Rail tweed jacket for a weekend of strolling around chatting to people at the Midlands Garden Rail show.

Full details on the Midlands Garden Rail Show website.

Both the trade and layout list look pretty inviting. We published the full guide in March's issue of your favourite large scale railway modelling magazine, along with features on a couple of the layouts to be seen at the show.

"Proper" railway fans will be looking forward to the debut of Steve Howard's Pen-y-bont.

The combination of realistic modelling, and real plants is really impressive. I know the plants are technicall "wrong" in that they are out of scale, but your eye just sees greenery and lets your brain concentrate on the superb modelling.

Just as impressive is Loft City Central.

OK, it's toy trains, but visually, so impressive that I suspect a lot of modellers will be impressed, even if they don't want to admit it!

If you drop in, please say hello. I'm never too busy to at least shake your hand, and I'm always happy to chat about garden railways!
