I'll admit, I'm not into grey boats, but it's still worth a strip down the boat club for Navy Day.
Some superb modelling was on show as ever. The highlight for me though, had to ba a stunning steam launch. No guns, so presumably the way the admiral and other senior ranks, would be taken to battleships. Whatever, it is an amazing piece of work.
Cake was excellent with some delicious lemon meringue tarts. I only sampled one, but it was tempting to have a repeat visit...

Well, we have the cheapest club uniform in the country... :-)
As ex Naval Service, grey ships still ensure the containers from China with various model railway goodies arrive unmolested, so please don’t hide us away. The boat is a steam pinnace and the greatest of these was Charles Parsons’ Turbinia which trespassed a fleet review to convince the Admiralty the benefits of steam
Turbine over clanky reciprocating plant. Unable to arrest her because of her speed, their Lordships decided it was time to listen and be sold on the concept. Turbinia had a chequered career being cut in two twice by collisions on the Tyne but she is now displayed in the Science Museum Newcastle upon Tyne and many marine engineers see her as a sacred relic. Now there’s a vessel worth modelling!

As long as it's not called "the admiral's new clothes", I'm not too worried ... .
