Saturday Film Club: Making model trains

Here's a mystery from the Pathe archive - a 90 second film showing O gauge model railway stock being built, but who for?

I'm assuming Bassett-Lowke, but plastic coach body sides?

Some impressive lining with a bow pen there and fretting out those windows must have been a nightmare!

(Sorry for the delay in approving comments this weekend, I'm away from the computer so will check in by phone every so often)

The commentary to the film indicates that models are being made in Leeds, which leads one to suspect that the Leeds Model Company is the subject. They did apparently produce coaches in Bakelite.

Hi Phil,

I think the reference to Leeds in the commentary confirms this is a film made at the Leeds Model Company in Hunslet. (Bassett-Lowke were based in Northampton.)

The process described is consistent with the coach being moulded in Bakelite.
