Saturday film club: Back to 1960 at Paddington

With the death of Michael Bond, creator of Paddington Bear this week, it seems appropriate to visit the station for a short film showing a ride from there to Reading, with loads of train spotting along the way.

I like that the film was shot on 8mm film hence the shots don't linger - the film was far too expensive for that. Nowadays with pretty much infinite amount of memory available to camera/phone users, being limited to 4 minutes per reel. That, and having to wait a week for that lovely yellow Kodak envelope to arrive in the post so you could see what you shot. Then cutting the film up and sticking it back together with the lovely, smelly glue...

Really enjoyed this, thanks Phil. Do you think, with all the effort modellers go to with weathering, we lack still for the clouds of smoke and steam seen here?

Smoke and steam would be lovely BUT it's impossible to scale at the moment. One day perhaps...
