A daily updated blog typed by someone with painty hands, oil under his fingernails and the smell of solder in his nostrils who likes making all sort of models and miniatures. And fixing things.

Waterborne Wednesday: Thunderbird 4
Something a bit newsy this week. I spotted this Thunderbird 4 on the fantastic Ian Visits blog.
It's a real, 15ft long working boat built for ITV to plug their new Thunderbirds TV series.
Looking at the website of the company who built this in 6 weeks, Helix 3D, the effort for a few publicity shots is amazing. I don't understand the economics of this sort of thing, but who cares?
TB4 has always been an obvious choice for the model boat builder, except that like Stingray, it simply doesn't work - there is no method of steering.
But now, you could build a model of the promotional boat and have the best of both worlds.
